——————————
Dearest friends,

The Institute for Studies in Global Prosperity (ISGP) is an agency of the Faith dedicated to building capacity in individuals, groups and institutions to contribute to prevalent discourses concerned with the betterment of society and it accomplishes this through a variety of programmes and lines of action. As part of its efforts to build capacity in individuals and to create spaces for learning about the betterment of society, the Institute offers a sequence of annual seminars, each of ten days duration, designed to accompany undergraduate students through their university studies.

Titled “participating in the prevalent discourses of society” the purpose of these intensive and inspiring seminars is help participating youth explore elements of a conceptual framework for contributing effectively to the advancement of civilisation, encouraging them to maintain a coherent vision of their lives and their involvement in society, to adopt methods that are congruent with their beliefs and provide them with the tools to analyse the culture in which they are immersed and the content of their university courses. Initial feedback from those who have participated in these seminars has been extremely positive; young people have come away with a greater ownership of their education and have been greatly assisted to acquire the kind of knowledge that will enable them to live fruitful, productive and meaningful lives.

The undergraduate seminars have been on offer in the United Kingdom since 2008 and, last summer, approximately sixty youth participated. This summer there will be four seminars running in parallel:

  • Year 4 seminar open to those who have previously completed Year 3
  • Year 3 seminar open to those who have previously completed Year 2
  • Year 2 seminar open to those who have previously completed Year 1
  • Year 1 seminar for those starting the programme

The first year seminar is primarily designed for youth just about to start university, but applications from older youth will also be accepted so long as they are undergraduates at the time of commencing the seminars and are able to attend for full duration of the course. This year’s seminars will take place at Wellington College, Crowthorne, Berkshire and will run from 17th to 27th August 2014 inclusive. The seminar is only open to undergraduate students living or studying in the UK or Republic of Ireland.

The total cost of participating in the seminar is yet to be confirmed but is likely to be in the region of £300. While every effort has been made to keep the costs down, participants should not feel unable to apply due to costs. Those who require financial assistance are encouraged to approach their Local Spiritual Assembly in the first instance. If further assistance is required, please contact the ISGP undergraduate UK seminars coordinator (isgpuk@gmail.com) and we will be able to help explore other possibilities for raising the funds necessary to participate.

This year applications are being processed online. Please visit the following website to register you interest to attend the seminars: https://isgp.wufoo.com/forms/isgp-undergraduate-seminars/

Details of payment methods will be provided upon confirmation of participation in the programme, which is likely to take place in the last week of June.

We look forward to participating in these exciting seminars with you!

With loving greetings,
