Visit of Lord Ahmad to the National Hazíratu’l-Quds

Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon visited the National Ḥazíratu’l-Quds to celebrate the bicentenary of the birth of the Báb.  Friends from around the UK welcomed Lord Ahmad, who is the Minister for the Commonwealth, the UN and South Asia, and formerly the Prime Minister’s Envoy for Freedom of Religion and Belief.  A short programme was shared with a particular focus on the life of the Báb.  

Lord Ahmad’s address focused on the importance of the bicentenary for Bahá’ís and the activities of the Bahá’í community around the country.  Quoting Bahá’u’lláh – “So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth” – Lord Ahmad spoke about the importance of understanding one another’s values and the role of religion and belief in contributing to the advancement and harmony of society.  The visit, which happened on 2 September, concluded with Lord Ahmad conversing with the friends about community-building activities, and how the Báb’s sacrificial Mission to herald the coming of Bahá’u’lláh continues today to inspire the community in its efforts to contribute to social transformation.
