Service opportunities with Bahá’í Books UK

The National Spiritual Assembly is launching a major re-development of the website for Bahá’í Books UK to provide an efficient and inviting portal to ensure the flow of literature to customers in the years to come.  The website will not only sell print editions, but also offer links to e-books, audio books, online texts in the Bahá’í Reference Library, and PDFs of materials.

To this end, the National Assembly is looking to appoint someone with the necessary skills to deliver the project on a full-time basis within the coming four months.  It is hoped that this same person, or possibly another, will continue to manage the site for a day or two per week after launch, keeping it up-to-date and curating content and creating special themed collections to serve the needs of the friends and the goals of the Five Year Plan.

For the initial redevelopment of the site, the successful candidate should have the technical skill and necessary aptitude to be able to migrate content from the existing Bahá’í Books UK site into a Shopify-based system.  Orderliness, to be able to categorise books and materials, would be an advantage.  The successful candidate should also be methodical and systematic, with a good eye for design and layout, and the ability to resolve issues within system-wide solutions.

Additionally, for the curation aspects of the work, an enthusiasm and knowledge of Bahá’í literature, good writing skills, the ability to find information on the internet to create product pages, a sensibility for layout, and basic image editing and knowledge of HTML would be desirable.

Remuneration is offered, but as with all service to the Faith, there is also the opportunity to undertake it on a voluntary or part-voluntary basis.

Please contact the National Spiritual Assembly by email at nsa@bahai.org.uk for further information about the roles.  Individuals who would like to apply for this position should submit a copy of their curriculum vitae, together with a covering letter sharing their reasons for applying.
