BAHA’I WORLD CENTRE STAFFING NEEDS

There is an ongoing need at the Baha’i World Centre for individuals who possess the relevant training and experience to fill the following positions:

Administrative Assistant
The Administrative Assistant provides the Office with secretarial and administrative support to ensure its efficient functioning. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including MS Word and Outlook desired. Must be fluent in English, be detail oriented, have drafting and editing experience, be mature and show discretion in handling confidential documents, have the ability to prioritize and to work independently

Assistant Coordinator
The Assistant Coordinator develops, implements and reviews country specific payment reports, monitors and reviews movement of funds worldwide; monitors status of banking systems and accounts; follows for completion of audits to ensure the integrity of the accounting system. Works closely with the Treasurers of the Boards. Reviews and prepares periodic financial reports, provides analysis and develops integrated financial systems working closely with the Department of Finance. Assists the Coordinator in the day to day functioning of the Office of Huququ’llah and communicates directly with the International Board of Trustees of Huququ’llah and Boards of Trustees throughout the world. Requires experience in accounting/finance/banking, English proficiency, experience in a computerized financial environment, advanced experience with Excel, and strong management, organizational and interpersonal skills

Audio Visual Technician
The Audio-Visual Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all audio-visual equipment at the World Centre and for audio and video documentation of events. Requires experience with audio and video equipment, attention to detail and organizational skills. Must be able to work independently, train volunteers, and maintain a flexible work schedule.

Collection Administrator
The primary responsibility of this position is to manage the collections of the Department of Holy Places. A graduate degree in museology, preventive conservation or curation, preferably with experience in managing and curating a collection is required. Individuals with extensive experience in the field are also encouraged to apply. Good communication and organizational skills are essential. Primary tasks include maintaining the documentation of the collection; ensuring that best conservation practice is used for storage, cleaning and display of the items in the collection; conducting condition assessments and arranging for the treatment of items most in need of conservation; researching and implementing improvements of conservation standards of the Department.

Executive Assistant
The Executive Assistant undertakes secretarial and clerical responsibilities in the Department of the Secretariat. The position requires experience in Baha’i administration; good communication skills, including demonstrated skills in writing, and ability to read, analyse and summarize background material; the ability to use a computer and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook (email and calendar) and Microsoft Excel are desirable.

Librarian
The role of Librarian requires a relatively recent degree in library and information science or equivalent professional qualifications, experience working in multiple areas of a library, (e.g.management, systems/technologies, cataloguing, reference, circulation) and a strong learning orientation. Knowledge and experience in cataloguing are highly desirable

Paper Conservator
The Paper Conservator performs conservation work on the full range of library and archival paper materials. Examines and analyzes collection materials; performs treatment and prepares treatment reports. Requires a graduate degree from a recognized conservation-training program, with a specialization in paper conservation. Conservators with similar training and practical experience, without the degree, may be considered. Good writing and interpersonal skills are required.

Program Officer
The Program Officer monitors the progress of Baha’i development activities in a given geographical region through correspondence with project agencies and institutions, fosters learning about Baha’i social and economic development within the region, and guides the evolution of global campaigns in such areas as literacy and primary health. Must have strong writing and research skills and be able to work effectively on a team.

Researcher, English
To assist the work of the Department by researching, compiling and presenting, in written form, information from the writings of the Central Figures of the Faith, the letters of Shoghi Effendi and from other sources. Graduate degree highly desirable. Required profound knowledge of English, good computer skills associated with the use of databases and word processing.

Secretary Assistant
Secretary Assistant serves as a personal assistant to the Secretary-General of the Baha’i International Community, providing support for all of his or her functions as the senior diplomatic officer representing the Universal House of Justice in the external affairs of the Baha’i World Centre in Israel–high level government negotiations, planning processes for development and protection of Holy Places, and special projects. This position requires a person who has self-motivation, flexibility, and organizational abilities. A high level of written and verbal skills and good interpersonal skills are essential, together with analytical and strategic competencies. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is desirable.

Translator (Persian, French, Spanish, or Arabic)
The Translator provides literal or summary translations of incoming documents; and provides accurate translations of outgoing messages from the Universal House of Justice and designated Offices. Needs to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and must have excellent written English and source language skills. Prior experience in written translation or post-secondary education in translation is preferred. Baha’i administrative experience is desirable.

Treasury
As a participant in the Treasury team, one shares the responsibility for the efficient accomplishment of all Treasury-related operations pertaining to the management of the financial assets of the Baha’i World Centre, in collaboration with a small external group of professionals in the area. This person is involved in activities related to cash management, banking and investment relationships, risk management, and financial product and market research.
