To all believers in the United Kingdom

Dearly loved Friends,

The National Spiritual Assembly currently maintains a website for National Events and is seeking short terms support to make some changes to the site. This will allow easier maintenance in the future by Institutions and appointed Registrars, and will help ensure that payments and data can be more easily managed. The National Assembly is seeking individuals to assist with two areas of development: Front-end design and Engine development.

The skills required for both posts are as follows:

Front End

  1. Web design: Experience of designing and setting up websites, possibly using a web design package (e.g. Dreamweaver). Good skills for designing web page layout and content. Understanding of content management and/or experience of using a content management system. Knowledge or use of WordPress or similar publishing/content management packages.
  2. Web programming: Knowledge and experience of programming in HTML 5. Knowledge of web-based data collection.
  3. Mobile Platforms: Experience and knowledge of website design/layout for mobile platforms such as smart phones and tablets would be useful.
  4. Security: Using and maintaining secure access mechanisms.

Item 1 above is especially important for someone looking to provide service in this arena. The other skills would be beneficial but are not essential.

Engine

  1. Programming skills: HTML 5, scripting languages such as PHP, Python, ASP or MySQL (experience of 2 of these areas would be advantageous).
  2. Database skills: Understanding of database technologies, relationships, unique keys etc. Use of phpMyAdmin and AJAX database transactions.

Please note that these skills are all regarded as essential to provide assistance in this second area.

If you are willing and able to serve in either of the capacities described above, please do contact our Department at your earliest opportunity by writing to nsa@bahai.org.uk

Your kind consideration of this matter is most warmly appreciated.

With loving Bahá’í greetings,
Department of the Secretariat
National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of the United Kingdom
