To all Bahá’í architects in the United Kingdom

Dearly loved friends,

As announced to the community in a letter dated 5 November 2014, a property at 17 Royal York Crescent, Bristol, was recently purchased by the National Spiritual Assembly. The acquisition of this beautiful apartment, twice so blessed by the presence of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, is a precious bounty and privilege for the UK community. ‘Abdu’l-Bahá Himself blessed every room in this house and, as recorded in Star of the West, stated that it would in future “become a centre of peace and rest for pilgrims from East and West”. In a letter dated 31 October 2014, written to the National Assembly on behalf of the Universal House of Justice, it was stated:

[The House of Justice] … feels that your intention to carry out renovation work, so that the former guest house can be brought closer in appearance to its condition at the time when ‘Abdu’l-Bahá visited it, is entirely appropriate…

In this light, the National Assembly is inviting a team of individuals to carry out the necessary research on this building and generate design proposals for its conservation and renovation. It would like at least one member of the team to be an architect. We are therefore inviting any Bahá’í architects who may be interested in joining a small team of friends, who are engaged in this project on a voluntary basis, to let us know. It would be helpful if you could also provide us with some background on your experience (e.g. a curriculum vitae) when writing.

The National Assembly looks forward to hearing from you shortly.

With loving Bahá’í greetings,

National Spiritual Assembly

Patrick O’Mara,
Secretary
