Wales – Glamorgan Cricket Club, Cardiff
Friday 15 – Sunday 17 April 2022

A total of 185 participants – including 26 youth, 10 junior youth and 45 children – gathered at Glamorgan Cricket Club in Cardiff for the conference for Wales. More than one third of the participants were friends of the Faith, representing a significant breakthrough in the history of the Cause in Wales. In the majority of workshop groups, all were seen as protagonists on a joint mission, with no differentiation between Bahá’ís and their friends.

There was a significant increase in the participants’ understanding of the Nine Year Plan, the actions needed, and the focus on building more vibrant neighbourhoods. New Ruhi Book 1 study circles were planned by most of the small groups. Satellite conferences will now happen  in neighbourhoods, in some cases being proposed by friends of the Faith.

The friends from the Ely neighbourhood in Cardiff and families of children in children’s classes connected in a ‘meaningful conversations’ space, making a significant contribution to the conference and shifting the dynamic for the whole space. Parents understood that the activities of community building were part of a worldwide educational process in which they can take part as active protagonists.

Attendees included members of the Mormon community, Ethiopian representatives and Muslim friends. One remarked that they are keen to learn together for the development of Newport and the whole of Wales. Another was particularly interested in learning about consultation, and applying this to those religious families where parents who are currently very strict with the children. They wished to learn how to have ‘more friendlier parenting’.
