Please see below a message from the Training Institute Board for England for your kind attention.

To all believers in England, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands,

Dearest friends,

The Training Institute Board for England has been delighted with the response to its announcement in NEWS on the 5th September of the creation of the role of a Secretariat Aide, and the number of friends who have shown interest in this role. As a result, the board has agreed to bring forward the closing date for applications to WEDNESDAY 28TH SEPTEMBER, with interviews to be held on Sunday 2nd October at Rutland Gate.

The original announcement (with amended dates) is provided below, and we are keen to ensure that friends continue to prayerfully consider this opportunity and to respond with an enquiry or by submitting their CV with a covering letter.

The Training Institute Board for England is pleased to share news of a development in its functioning that has given rise to an opportunity for service.

In consultation with the Bahá’í Council for England and our Counsellor, Shirin Fozdar-Foroudi, and with the agreement of the National Spiritual Assembly, we have given careful consideration to the level of support needed for the work of the Training Institute and the development of the function of the Secretariat. During the course of these consultation, it became clear that given the increased level of activity in pursuit of the goals of the Five Year Plan, and the needs that it generates for administrative and analytical support, it is now timely to establish a Secretariat Office that can gradually provide increasing levels of support to the Training Institute in England. Based on an assessment of the current needs, the Training Institute Board is establishing the following position of service:

Secretariat Aide for the Training Institute Board for England

It is envisaged that the role of the Aide would include the following:

  • assisting the Secretary in matters relating to correspondence and general administration
  • assisting with the flow of information, including working with the Secretary to analyse information and the collation of reports on the progress of the Training Institute,
  • assisting with the preparation and running of gatherings,
  • working with the Secretariat of the Bahá’í Council for England as occasion requires, and
  • occasional need to travel within the region to participate in gatherings.

In providing this description, the Training Institute Board is mindful that, as with any structure undergoing organic growth, the role of the Aide will gradually clarify with time through a process of action and reflection. The Aide, then, would be someone who is deeply interested by this opportunity to learn alongside the Training Institute Board about the potential for this role and the way in which it can develop to assist the work of the Faith throughout our region.

Amongst the qualities that have been identified as crucial to the work of the Aide are the following:

  • good understanding of the framework of the Five Year Plan,
  • adoption of a humble posture of learning,
  • keenness to be systematic,
  • good analytical and communication skills,
  • comfortable to work independently and under pressure to meet timelines whilst being flexible and proactive,
  • ability to work effectively with Office 365 (for which assistance can be given), and
  • ability to travel on occasion within England.
