To all believers in the United Kingdom

Dearly loved Friends,

National Convention 2018: Saturday 26 May – Monday 28 May 2018

At Riḍván 2018, members of National Spiritual Assemblies from around the world will gather in Haifa to elect the Universal House of Justice. This sacred and special event takes place as part of the International Convention which only occurs once every five years. In light of this, the Universal House of Justice has advised National Spiritual Assemblies, in a letter dated 14 April 2017 written on its behalf, that the “National Conventions in 2018 should take place on the weekend closest to the Anniversary of the Declaration of the Báb, which falls on Thursday, 24 May 2018”.

On this basis, the National Assembly wishes to share that National Convention 2018 will take place between Saturday 26 May at 2pm, and Bank Holiday Monday 28 May at 1pm. The convention will be held at a new venue: Chesford Grange, Kenilworth, Warwick CV8 2LD.

National Convention is a pivotal and inspiring event in the annual Bahá’í calendar, during which the 95 delegates elected in every region of the United Kingdom elects the National Spiritual Assembly for the coming year. Delegates additionally participate in consultations on the development of the Faith in this country and in particular the progress of the Five Year Plan – this year with added significance following the momentous celebrations marking the bicentenary of the Birth of Bahá’u’lláh, and in the lead up to the bicentenary of the Birth of the Báb. No doubt the spirit, excitement and insights generated at International Convention will also permeate the National Convention and make it even more special.

Registration for National Convention will open in due course, and you may be assured that full details of the venue, including options pertaining to accommodation and catering, will be shared as soon as they are available. In the meantime, it is hoped that you will put these dates in your diaries and make plans to attend.

The National Assembly looks forward greatly to welcoming as many believers as possible to National Convention 2018.

With loving Bahá’í greetings,

Patrick O’Mara,

Secretary
