Passing of Mary Hardy

To all believers in the United Kingdom

Dearly loved Friends,

The National Spiritual Assembly is saddened to inform you of the passing of devoted Maid-Servant of Bahá’u’lláh, Mary Hardy.

Mary’s many years of distinguished service to the Cause included membership of the National Assembly from 1974 to 1985, including four years as its Secretary.

Possessed of profound spiritual sensibilities and refinement, and ever loving and encouraging in her interactions with the believers, Mary was a devoted and effective teacher whose efforts resulted in large-scale growth of the Faith in Henley-on-Thames in the 1970s.  Her services as an international and home-front pioneer, to the Bahá’í International Community in New York, and her ground-breaking work in the field of external affairs – particularly in government relations and the bold defence of the Bahá’ís of Iran in the years immediately following the 1979 Iranian revolution – are recalled with deep appreciation.

The National Assembly extends to Mary’s dear children – Brant, Sandra, Gayle, Kathleen, and Joanne – its most loving condolences.  The friends will no doubt wish to join with the National Assembly in offering prayers, both for the solace of their grieving hearts and for the progress of Mary’s luminous soul through all the worlds of God.

With loving Bahá’í greetings,

Patrick O’Mara,
Secretary
