Prayers for the progress and protection of the Cause

To all believers in the United Kingdom
Dearly loved co-workers,
During these days we are especially calling to mind the seven members of the former Yárán in Iran, who six years ago were so unjustly and cruelly incarcerated on account of the services they were rendering to the Bahá’í community and the peoples of their country. Our hearts are pained as we remember their suffering. News in recent days of the excavation work that has begun in the old Bahá’í cemetery in Shiraz, where approximately 950 Bahá’ís are buried, including the ten women who were martyred in 1983, wrenches the very core of our being. We know, however, that it is through such suffering and anguish that spiritual forces are mysteriously released, and these forces enable the Bahá’í community to achieve remarkable victories. Of the martyrs in Iran, the Beloved Guardian has written:
It is the shedding of the sacred blood of the martyrs in Persia which, in this shining era, this resplendent, this gem-studded Bahá’í age, shall change the face of the earth into high heaven and, as revealed in the Tablets, raise up the tabernacle of the oneness of mankind in the very heart of the world, reveal to men’s eyes the reality of the unity of the human race, establish the Most Great Peace, make of this lower realm a mirror for the Abhá Paradise, and establish beyond any doubt before all the peoples of the world the truth of the verse: “…the day when the Earth shall be changed into another Earth.”
As assiduous, tireless exertions are being made to seek justice for our brethren in Iran and to stop the destruction of the Bahá’í cemetery in Shiraz, we call upon all the believers in the United Kingdom, at this critical hour, to make a special effort to draw down these spiritual forces upon all our labours to achieve the goals of the Five Year Plan and thus to change this Earth into another Earth, and to fervently implore Almighty God that the angels of heaven may be summoned to confirm this community’s endeavours with startling victories for the Cause and for the protection of the Bahá’ís in Iran.
