Bicentenary prayers

To all believers in the United Kingdom

Dearly loved Friends,

On the morning of Sunday 8 October 2017 at 9 o’clock, the National Spiritual Assembly will join with Counsellor Shirin Fozdar-Foroudi, as well as all of the Auxiliary Board members serving the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the Faroe Islands, at the Resting Place of the beloved Guardian to offer special prayers of love, praise and gratitude to God for the appearance in the world of the Báb and Bahá’u’lláh.

To commemorate the occasion of the bicentenaries of Their births, two trees will also be planted in the environs of the Resting Place, echoing ‘Abdu’l-Bahá’s description of Shoghi Effendi – who was descended from both Manifestations of God – as “the blest and sacred bough that has branched out from the Twin Holy Trees.”

The National Assembly would like to suggest that the friends may wish to offer prayers in their own homes or communities on that same morning, beseeching God that He will bless, aid and sustain the extraordinary activity that is under way for the bicentenary of the Birth of Bahá’u’lláh throughout the entire Bahá’í world, so that hundreds of thousands, nay tens of millions of people may come under His shade and shadow.
