Staffing needs at the Bahá’í World Centre

There is an ongoing need at the Baha’i World Centre for individuals who possess the relevant training and experience to fill the following positions:

Audio-Visual Technician
The Audio-Visual Technician operates and maintains all audio-visual equipment at the World Centre; does audio and video documentation of talks etc at the World Centre. Must be able to work a flexible schedule (evenings and weekend work). Close attention to detail and a willingness to take personal initiative are key factors in performing the duties of this position. Should have experience with audio and video equipment. Must have basic computer skills.

Electrician
The Electrician undertakes fault finding, correction and rewiring of apartments, Holy Places and offices. Must have a current driver’s licence for a manual transmission vehicle and a minimum of 3 years’ experience after receiving electrical trade qualification.

Plumber
The Plumber undertakes general plumbing duties related to multi-story apartment buildings and Holy Places and should have general plumbing skills. Some construction, maintenance and electrical experience is desirable. Must have a current driver’s licence for manual transmission vehicles.

Comptroller’s Assistant
The Comptroller’s Assistant assists in the preparation of the annual Baha’i World Centre budget, reviews budgets submitted by institutions and agencies as necessary and monitors the monthly financial reports of departments and offices at the World Centre. Assists in preparation of studies on various types of expenses and carries out analytical work. A finance-oriented education, good computer and writing skills are essential. Baha’i administrative experience is desirable.

General Assistant
The General Assistant assists in maintaining the Arc buildings, moving furniture, setting up new office space and moving offices as needed. Delivers paper and other office supplies to the offices and assists the Fleet Administrator with maintaining the car pool. Needs to be physically fit, with a cooperative and flexible attitude. Some computer and handyman skills are desirable.

There is also an ongoing need at the Baha’i World Centre for librarians, archivists, and conservators who possess the relevant training and experience to fill the following positions:

Librarian
The role of Librarian requires a relatively recent degree in library and information science or equivalent professional qualifications, experience working in multiple areas of a library, (e.g. management, systems/technologies, cataloguing, reference, circulation) and a strong learning orientation. Knowledge and experience in cataloguing are highly desirable.

Book Conservator
The Book Conservator performs conservation treatments on a wide variety of the Baha’i World Centre’s library collections. Examines and analyzes collection materials, performs treatment and prepares treatment reports. Requires a graduate degree from a recognized conservation-training program, with a specialization in rare book conservation. Conservators with similar training and practical experience, without the degree, may be considered. Good writing and interpersonal skills are required.

Conservator
The Conservator performs conservation work on the full range of library and archival paper materials at the Baha’i World Centre. Manages the preservation and conservation of archival documents and works of art from the Archives, Library, Audio-Visual and Holy Places offices.
