To all believers in the United Kingdom

Dearly loved Friends,

In the past twelve months we have witnessed the dedications of both the final continental House of Worship in Santiago, Chile and the first local House of Worship in Battambang, Cambodia. We will soon see the completion of the local Mashriqu’l-Adhkár in Norte del Cauca, Colombia, to be followed by the first two national, and three further local, Houses of Worship. All of these historic developments are significant steps towards realising Bahá’u’lláh’s commandment in His Most Holy Book: “Build ye houses of worship throughout the lands in the name of Him Who is the Lord of all religions.”

To encourage an ever-increasing awareness of the Mashriqu’l-Adhkár, we are pleased to enclose a new compilation and statement on this vital institution, prepared by the Research Department at the request of the Universal House of Justice. The compilation consists of 86 extracts from the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh and ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, the guidance of Shoghi Effendi, and the letters of the House of Justice. Of these, 22 are newly translated and appear in English for the first time.

The compilation can also be found at the online Bahá’í Reference Library (www.bahai.org/library/) under the ‘Compilations’ section. If you require a printed copy, you may request this from the National Spiritual Assembly by writing to nsa@bahai.org.uk

The House of Justice expressed the “ardent hope”, in a cover letter of 12 September 2017 written on its behalf, “that this compilation will assist the friends in gaining a deeper understanding of the vital role that the House of Worship is destined to play in the spiritual transformation of society.” We therefore warmly commend it to the study of the friends.

With loving Bahá’í greetings,

Patrick O’Mara,
Secretary
