Dearly loved Friends,
As the month of fasting is about to begin, the National Spiritual Assembly and the Regional Board of Trustees of Ḥuqúqu’lláh of Ireland and the United Kingdom are together taking this opportunity to send to you their warmest love and greetings.
This year, in addition to marking the Bicentenary of the Birth of Bahá’u’lláh, also sees the 25th anniversary of the universal application of the law of Ḥuqúqu’lláh. As part of its contribution to this important year, the Regional Board is focussing its activities around three principal spiritual laws: prayer, fasting and the observance of Ḥuqúqu’lláh.
“Ḥuqúqu’lláh is indeed a great law,” writes the Blessed Beauty. “It is incumbent upon all to make this offering, because it is the source of grace, abundance, and of all good. It is a bounty which shall remain with every soul in every world of the worlds of God, the All-Possessing, the All-Bountiful.” With regard to fasting and obligatory prayer, the Supreme Pen describes them “as two wings to man’s life. Blessed be the one who soareth with their aid in the heaven of the love of God, the Lord of all worlds.”
These three laws are integral to our spiritual lives. Striving to observe them confers upon us countless bounties and blessings, as well as providing a firm foundation upon which all of our services to advance the work of the Cause and serve humanity can be built.
In order to encourage an ever increasing awareness of, and devotion to, these laws, we are happy to enclose two compilations, prepared by the Research Department of the Universal House of Justice: The Importance of Obligatory Prayer and Fasting, and Ḥuqúqu’lláh – The Right of God. Our two institutions are offering these as a gift to the friends for the precious days of the Fast.
May all of our efforts to consecrate ourselves to the Will of God attract the confirmations of the Abhá Beauty.
